Building Rapport with Your Direct Sales Prospects and Team
Getting into rapport with your prospects is one of the single best skills you can learn and develop to get your prospects interested in at least taking a look at your business and what you do.
I just got back meeting with my mastermind group and we did a powerful exercise on validation and sharing with another person what you see and appreciate in them.
It is powerful to build rapport and acknowledge others for what you see in them.
A mistake we often make when we start in Direct Sales is blindly calling everyone without developing a solid plan for what we are going to say –

“We did business together a few years back….”
“You know a lot of people….”
Give a sincere compliment. Who doesn’t feel good after a compliment and feel compelled to listen to you. It captures their attention.
People get so little recognition and so few compliments today for the job they are doing.
Make your approach not just about YOU, but also them, and most importantly them.
Facebook has been my lead generation of choice for the last 2 months and I have used rapport to rebuild connections and relationships with people, convert them to leads and sign ups!
Validation
This is great for team building at events, meetings and so on.
Validate people’s feelings and where they are coming from. Don’t be quick to just shoot back with a reason why their objection is not valid.
When people feel heard and understood, they are more likely to open up and communicate more freely.
Validation exercise with your team –
Everyone puts their name in a hat and one at a time, a name is drawn, and then everyone else goes offers words, phrases and descriptions to share how they see this person.

IT is so powerful to allow another to see themselves through the lens that others see them through.
All this flows into branding yourself and what others say to describe you!
Powerful Team Bonding exercise.
ACTION STEPS
1. Ask a few people what they see in you; how would they describe you?
2. Reach out to 3-5 people and make their day by just acknowledging what you see and admire in them.
3. Plan this exercise for your next team gathering.
