Secret to Getting to the Top of the Comp Plan in Network Marketing
For years, I struggled to find the secret to success in Network Marketing. What did those at the top know and do that I was not privy to?
I recently had a “prospect” for my Network Marketing business complete the form on my website and request details on working with me.
There is a small series of questions there and they are –
Number of hours you want to put in weekly
Income you want to earn
Investment you are willing to make to start a business.
My prospect said she wanted to put in 5 hours a week, make $10,000 plus per month and she thought she might be able to borrow $50 from her mom to start the business. (This was a grown, married women with children, not a child still living at home!)
I shared this story on a Facebook group, along with the fact that I had a garage sale to raise the $600 I needed to start my first Network Marketing business and was asked this question by someone in the group, who at first misunderstood what I shared, thinking I was saying I had earned over $10,000 monthly, with just 5 hours a week and a$50 investment.
Once we cleared that up, he asked what my “secret” was. This is what I shared –

Joe asked – So how did a garage sale get you to 5hrs a week making $10k a month do share ….
My answer is that I did NOT get to $10k a month with 5 hours a week of effort. My prospect indicated that SHE wanted to get to $10k a month with 5 hours a week of effort, and if anyone knows how, please do share!
I had a garage sale in 1994 to raise $600 for my first company start up. I did only work about 5 hours in the beginning, mostly pretending like I was working!
Conference calls, re-writing my list, shuffling papers and staring at the monster in the room called a phone!
Once I realized THAT was not going to make me rich, I went to work on my mindset and belief, and then went to work in my business.
The bottom line is this – there is no secret formula to success in Network Marketing, or anything for that matter. It takes rolling up the sleeves, getting out of one’s comfort zone and mastering the simple business skills to be successful.
Everyday, we have to be opening our mouth to someone to share what we are doing and see if there might be an interest in learning more.
MOST will say no. Some people let that shoot them down, go away feeling rejected and then say that our profession doesn’t work, or warm market doesn’t work, or calling leads doesn’t work, or talking to strangers doesn’t work….
ALL of these methods work if YOU (we) work them. For very 100 people who say a method doesn’t work, I can show you a million dollar earner who built his/her business with that method.
Once you make it, everyone wants to know “your secret” and the secret is – we just kept going. We picked up the phone one more time and called one more person, got no showed one more time at the coffee shop; had one more person who we thought was going to be a superstar quit, and take an entire group with them. We heard NO more than those who don’t make it.
Most of all, we believe in our dreams and put more faith in the lifestyle we wanted to live than we worried about someone who might tell us we are crazy.
Not sure of that’s helpful, or the wisdom you are looking for. But, it is the truth.

Hi Jackie enjoyed your post. Nothing will substitute for consistent, persistent daily action toward your goal.. You got to have your DMO… ( daily method of operation ) I love how Brian Tracy talks about eating that frog… Normally the thing that is going to make you the most money you tend to put off… At the end of the day you need to ask yourself… What did I do that brought me more toward my ultimate goal?

LOVE Eat That Frog. I try to start every day with my income producing activities if at all possible and then I feel great, the important things are done and I can get on to passive marketing, such as Online stuff! Thanks for weighing in!
