One of my favorite personal growth books of all time is Mach II With Your Hair on Fire by Richard Brooke. Up until the time I read this book, I thought I really had no need for a “personal development program.” After all, I was already a positive person; saw the glass as half full, and so on, right?
Once I read the book, I was stunned.
I now read it every January, and have since 1997, when I first picked it up, in manuscript form, before it was even published.
I never realized that one could be very positive on the outside, and yet still have huge challenges on the inside; with the way we actually perceive ourselves, with the mental pictures that run through our minds.
Much of what you might learn from this book, you have probably heard before, but sometimes there is a need to hear in from another, in a different way.
If you have ever let something that “happened” to you determine how you view yourself, this book is for you.
If you are still struggling with events from the past, reliving them over and over in your mind, unable to shake them as part of who you are, this book is for you.
If you catch yourself in a lot of negative thinking, this book is definitely for you!
There is a particular section in the book that always speaks to me.
Some people ask Richard, what happened, to which he replies –
I changed. I changed my thoughts; I changed the people I paid attention to; I changed my mind; I changed my habits; I changed my attitude; I changed my clothes; I changed my opinions about me and about you; I changed what I read and what I watched on television; and what I listened to. I changed those deep rooted decisions about who I was and who I would become.
Is it possible for you to do this too?
Yes, I believe it is. Change is possible for all of us, as Richard Brooke assures us.
But, you must be the one to design the change. You must design it. You must expect it. You must begin to condition yourself for the change you desire.
You have to stop getting ready. You have to go from wishing and hoping to believing and taking motivated action toward those goals.
Do you believe you can? I do…I have!

Now THAT sounds like a book worth reading! So glad you brought this to my attention. I fit the mold. Always thought of myself as a positive person, but there's a lot of room for improvement (read CHANGE!)

I bought this book (audio book) today and love it! I also bought Og Mandino – the greatest salesman in the world. Gotta love Audible and Amazon MP3.
