Social Media and a Hallmark Moment
Doesn’t everyone’s life just look amazing on Facebook?
A few years back I was shopping with my daughter and saw a sign that said – May Your Life Someday Be as Awesome as You Pretend It is on Facebook. I couldn’t resist snapping the picture!
And, it did start me thinking – do we read too much into everyone’s “perfect looking life” on Facebook? Is the Social Media craze hurting our egos?
This is from a recent Periscope I did and I had to laugh since I shot the scope later at night because I had just been shooting makeup videos for my new blog! How ironic, that I thought – I can’t waste this good makeup look by not making a periscope!
Much like the holidays, and dreaming of those “Hallmark Moments” decorating the tree, opening gifts and so on – we can get too caught up in how we think life and things are supposed to be. When, in reality, it most often doesn’t turn out just like we think it should or will.
Life is messy, and that’s just how it is.
Actually, Periscope has taught me to be much more authentic and not worry about having my look just right before getting on live. Slap on a baseball cap, with bling, of course, and just go for it!
