<p>I adhere to one simple philosophy in my business, and it&#8217;s so simple, most people either miss it, or ignore it.</p>

<p>That&#8217;s it! Seriously!</p>
<p>So, the next natural question is &#8211; how do you find these 2 new people to talk to?</p>
<p>This question really does tend to blow me away. I mean seriously, people are <span style="color: #ff0000;">EVERYWHERE</span>, and people who are looking for a solution to their finances are <span style="color: #ff0000;">EVERYWHERE</span>.</p>
<p>So, the REAL question is &#8211; what are YOU willing to do to find 2 new people to talk to?</p>
<p>I meet people offline all of the time. So do you! At the store, at the post office, while shopping, eating out, etc. I also attend networking events, expos and job/event fairs, and put myself out there to meet people.</p>
<p>I also have a warm market, and so do you. Have you let these people know about your business? I hope so.</p>
<p>And, I network and meet people online. It really works the same way online. Whether it is Facebook, or LinkedIn, Meetup or any of the Social Networks &#8211; meeting and building friendships and relationships with people doesn&#8217;t change!</p>

But many people aren&#8217;t really cashing in on the benefits.</p>
<p>Instead, the are creating many social media blunders and just plain ole wasting time out there.</p>
<p>One big blunder that I repeatedly see people make is being a &#8220;drive by&#8221; social media participant. Are you guilty of this?</p>
<p>You may be asking, what is that exactly? What makes someone a &#8220;Drive by&#8221; participant?</p>
<p>Well, if you are guilty of never doing more than &#8220;liking&#8221; comments, you are guilty!</p>
<p>If someone posts a status update that asks a specific question, and you simply &#8220;like&#8221; it, without answering the question &#8211; that is being guilty of &#8220;Drive by Social Media!&#8221;</p>
<p>Remember that social media marketing for your business is all about relationships, interactions and allowing people to get to know you! The more yo comment and interact with people, the better you are going to become at creating an interest in you by others and building those relationships.</p>
<p>Make sure you are making 3-4 status updates of value, combining social, personal and business. And, no blatant posting of your opportunity!</p>
<p>And, are you taking advantage of groups and pages for even higher engagement and interactions?</p>

<p>Unless you&#8217;ve been under a rock, you&#8217;ve heard that Facebook is changing all<strong><a href="http://www.facebook.com/streetsmartwealth" target="_blank"> Business Pages</a></strong> (once called Fan Pages) over to the new Timeline on March 30, 2012. They will now be called Facebook Timeline for Brands. Congratulations, if you have one, you are now a &#8220;brand!&#8221; That was easy!</p>
<p>While not a lot is changing in terms of how to interact and engage an audience on Facebook, the layout will change and there are some things you&#8217;ll want to take care of right away.</p>
<p>The first is the Facebook Timeline Cover Photo. <strong><a href="http://www.facebook.com/streetsmartwealth" target="_blank">You can see mine at my page</a></strong>, and while it&#8217;s temporary, it gives you an idea. And it is shown below, with red arrows pointing out things to be aware of. I&#8217;ve highlighted the <span style="color: #ff0000;">text below in red</span> that correlates to the photo.</p>

<p>The <span style="color: #ff0000;">cover photo</span> should be done in these dimensions – 851 wide x 315 height in pixels. There are some pretty strict policies around what can and can&#8217;t be used on your photo. You&#8217;ll want to be in compliance because they will be removing/deleting photos out of compliance. Here are the basics:</p>
<blockquote><p>No contact info including a website URL or email address. Bummer, huh?<br />
No terminology enticing people to Click or Like your page.<br />
No coupons or promotions.</p></blockquote>
<p><a href="http://ads.ak.facebook.com/ads/FacebookAds/Pages_Product_Guide_022712.pdf" target="_blank"><strong>Facebook outlines its policies here.</strong></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;<br />
You still have a <span style="color: #ff0000;">profile picture</span>, but it won&#8217;t be a long banner down the left side as before. Sizes for that are 180 x 180.</p>
<p>No more custom default landing pages to guide people to initially, although they do still exist as tabs.  You can see mine on my page, right under the cover photo.  I am currently profiling my <span style="color: #ff0000;">Profit in Your PJs tab, Videos and a Like Tab.</span></p>
<p>You can get really creative in how you use these tabs, using photos or text as a call to action for your visitor.  The size of the images for this is 111 x 74.</p>
<p>There is now a new <span style="color: #ff0000;">Message</span> feature that allows your fans to send you a message, and you have a choice whether to use it or not. It can be a great tool for engaging with people, so I suggest using it. You control this in the admin panel of the page.</p>
<p>Speaking of the <span style="color: #ff0000;">Admin Panel</span>, this is also a new addition, and this gives you a wealth of information about what is going on with your page – new &#8220;likes&#8221;, insights, messages and other notifications.</p>
<p>The <span style="color: #ff0000;">ABOUT</span> section is still very important and you&#8217;ll want to lead into it with a URL so people can easily see where to click to learn more OFF of Facebook. Use this space wisely for maximum exposure.</p>
<p>And, the <span style="color: #ff0000;">Highlights</span> area is where you can add important events in the life of your business and brand. Perhaps when you started in business, photos that had not been uploaded before, etc. Think out your strategy here!</p>
<p>There are two new features that allow you to highlight specific posts on your page. You have a &#8220;pin&#8221; feature, and a feature that allows you to span the post across the entire width of the page.</p>
<p>The pin feature allows the post to stay at the top of the page for 7 days. The span feature allows the post to be stretched across the entire width. Currently, you cannot stretch and pin the same post. The photo below shows how to &#8220;pin.&#8221;</p>

<p>The &#8220;star&#8221; icon on the top right of a post is what allows you to span it across the timeline. See below -</p>

<p>So, in a nutshell, make sure you have a cover photo up, and not just a blank white space on the 30th of March, and begin playing around with the tab applications under the cover photo.</p>

How do you create interest and bring people back to it. Here are some ideas -</p>
<p><br class="spacer_" /></p>
<p>When posting on your business page, you&#8217;ll want to make about 80% of your content related to <a href="http://CardsMakeCash.com" target="_blank">your business</a>; your industry or profession and items that your audience will find useful, and want to engage in conversation about.</p>
<p>Link back to articles, blog posts and videos you have created. This establishes you as an “expert” in your field and someone they can rely on.  It&#8217;s a great idea to post information by others within your field as well. This shows you as genuinely interested in your customers and clients best interest.</p>
<p>Keep your company brand and culture in mind in your updates. Keep that theme strong.  Add photos here, too (don&#8217;t forget checking company policy, it could be event photos with no mention of the company name.)  Videos go a long way to enhancing your brand and establishing trust.</p>
<p>The exciting thing about a Business Page is that it is a great place to really engage with your customers and clients, while promoting subtly, your business.</p>
<p>Want to find out what they think of something you offer; a product; service, etc?  Post a poll. And, be ready for the good and the bad. How you react to anything less than positive can go a long way in boosting your popularity and securing loyalty!</p>
<p>No one&#8217;s business is perfect, and giving your customers, clients and potential business prospects the space to share their ideas and thoughts is empowering and gets them involved; it gives them a sense of “ownership” in the process. Yes, there may be times you have to reel things in. You may get the occasional “bad seed” who wants to just complain, and even that can work in your favor when handled with grace and poise!</p>
<p>Create a customer discount, depending on your business and what product/service you offer. An example might be a 20% discount off XYZ product when a customer comes in and mentions the Facebook Coupon code!  Imagine the kind of fresh business you might create. Get your Facebook fans sharing among their friends and you stand to benefit tremendously.</p>
<p>Ask your fans what they would like to see from you; your business and your type of product or service. You never know what might show up. Create contests and create a sense of community!</p>
<p>Use your page to schedule regular “events.” It shows up on your calendar as well as in the highlights area of your business page. You can gain limitless free exposure for your business by developing a strategic plan.</p>
<p>You can offer a “discussion forum” that serves as a “water cooler” or “Town hall” type of environment to mix, mingle exchange ideas and create business interest. Monitor this area and your page wall regularly to remove any offensive, unwanted posts. These do occasionally crop up. Just be aware, be there frequently and take care of it. Avoid making a “public” scene about it. Just use the remove button.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s easy to get bogged down in Social Media Marketing &#8211; trying to figure out what to do, when to do it and where to do it, right?</p>
<p>Here are 4 Quick Tips to get you on the road to success. Each day, determine if what you are doing out in the Social Media arena fits and then proceed:  <strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong>Decide what your goals are for your Social Networking and Online Strategy.</strong> What do you want to accomplish as you are interacting online? Write these down, as this will assist in putting together the rest of your strategy.  <strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong>How much time do you have?</strong> This will play a big role in your goal setting and strategy. Be realistic. Be disciplined. Avoid drama and get your stuff done first!  <strong></strong></p>
<p><strong>What Marketing Funnels do you want to use?</strong> Marketing funnels are those sites and places online where you will be spending time. My suggestion is to d<strong>ecide on one or two marketing funnels/social networking sites to begin with</strong>.  <strong>Don&#8217;t take on too many at once.</strong> <strong></strong></p>
<p><strong>Determine who your target market is and how you will find them on the social media sites you are using.</strong> On Facebook, it might be groups or pages; on Twitter, you can do a keyword search. Once you&#8217;ve found your market, spend your time in these areas making friends/followers; interacting with and engaging in conversations.  Your target audience might be Home schoolers; wahms; cooking; skin care; weight loss, etc.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t let go of your current day to day result producing activities to do this. Make it part of your strategy. Continue making calls and prospecting; booking parties; following up and giving business overviews regularly.</p>
<p>Remember, it takes time and consistency to build your presence, brand and following. You are there to build relationships first, and then business will follow. Have fun with the journey!  <span style="color: #3366ff;"><strong><em></em></strong></span></p>

<p>Do you know where to find your target market?</p>
<p>Do you know what your message is?</p>
<p>Many people jump into social media marketing without any kind of action plan. They jump on the bandwagon and start Tweeting their message to anyone who will listen, hoping that it will land on captive ears. And, they turn off many potential friends and ambassadors in the process.</p>
<p>Direct Sellers and Network Marketers are notorious for this because most of us have been taught to talk to everyone; leave no stone unturned.  And, my question might be – how&#8217;s that working for ya?</p>
<p>This might work well in the offline line world, with your warm market and center of influence, but in the online world, where there is already too much noise, it can be a challenge.</p>
<p>See, while anyone could be your target market, you will spend your time much more wisely by fishing where the fish are.</p>
<p>Start with defining WHO you want to attract.</p>
<p>Who is the perfect person for your product or opportunity?  Where would they be hanging out online to catch your message?</p>
<p>Once you&#8217;ve identified who and where, begin there.</p>
<p>Engage and attract fans and followers by being first interested in other people. Forget about your message for a while. See where you can give first.</p>

The last few years have really seen the debate get pretty heated about whether it&#39;s possible to build and sustain a Network Marketing business online; or is truly best and only sustainable by building it with warm market contacts, and keeping technology out of it.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>As someone who has built it both ways, I believe that when it&#39;s done <strong><em>right</em></strong> the online methods can be just as solid and powerful as the traditional style. And, the ideal business is the one built with both. I can&#39;t imagine not using the tools of Social Media Marketing such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc. to help spread the word and attract quality prospects who are looking now!</p>

<p>Here&#39;s my take on it, as a mom who is so grateful that the Internet provided a tool that did allow me to create that dream business and &quot;gangsta income&quot; promised in the brochures and DVDs&#8230;.</p>

<p>One thing I am most proud of with my story is that I truly did build a successful business online in Network Marketing; not just selling &#8220;tools and secrets&#8221; to Network Marketers.</p>

<p>Now don&#8217;t get me wrong, a person needs a road map and some education on how to succeed, and you can speed up the process by carefully selecting training tools and resources.</p>

<p>YouTube offers you an exciting way to get found; get followed and attract leads for your business.</p>

Yes, it now surpasses Yahoo as a search engine. Many people don&#8217;t think of YT as a search engine, but it is.</p>
<p>Currently, YouTube is the second biggest source for me personally for developing leads for my business. People are going to YouTube or Google and looking for something specific and are finding my videos as a resource from what they are searching for.</p>
<p>You can follow what I do and get some ideas by checking out my channel. You can subscribe to it and get an update each time a new video is uploaded so you can track what  I do and how it works.</p>

<p>I want to strongly encourage you not to fear being in front of the camera. You WILL get better over time. It takes some practice and it is so worth it to develop this resource for attracting your ideal prospects to you.</p>
<p>Video creates a whole new experience because it gives people a much bigger insight into who you are and what value you bring to the table. I view making a video as sitting down one on one to speak with one person. My camera is the one person.</p>
<p>Video is highly affordable with a camera costing around $150. Some are more some are less, I use a Flip HD basic camera and a $20 tri pod. It has created thousands of dollars in business for me, so it has been well worth the investment.</p>
<p>I keep a notebook of ongoing topics to create a video around. I try to keep them to 3 – 8 minutes, with shorter being better.</p>
<p>I always create generic content, and I include a link to my blog, which also has a link on how to work with me. You don&#8217;t need to blast your business; those who are interested in knowing your primary company or business will click to know more.</p>
<p>So, let&#8217;s discuss some tips for Youtube.</p>
<blockquote><p><span style="color: #3366ff;">1.	Always start with creating and offering value. Don&#8217;t post videos just promoting your opportunity.  This is really nothing more than a commercial and when was the last time you watched a commercial on YouTube…and liked it? Value is best offered generically. No matter what business you are in, there are dozens of generic tips you can offer to others that they will find helpful. People appreciate those who give and share. Remember, make a difference in someone&#8217;s life and business and they will remember you!</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #3366ff;">2.	Once you publish a video to YouTube, add it to your site or blog using the EMBED code that YouTube provides you. If you have a Facebook page, or profile, and you do, right? Add it in there as well. This allows you to help with the marketing and promotion of your video. Don&#8217;t expect Google and YouTube to do it all. You can link in many of your social sites including Facebook, Twitter and others. Spend some time there and find all of the resources available to you.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #3366ff;">3.	Always begin your description with the link to your website. Include the http. This creates a clickable link. You can increase your traffic dramatically by making it very simple for your audience to click through and learn more about you. If you use any type of tracking or Google Analytics on your site, you&#8217;ll see how many people are clicking through from your videos to your site. This allows you to get better and improve your video message for your audience. Remember, it is all about creating value and establishing yourself as a knowledgeable source to follow.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #3366ff;">4.	You can find out who is watching; where they are from and all types of demographic information by clicking the INSIGHT button on your channel. This can provide great information and assist you in targeting your message better and reaching your target audience.  This of course, is important once you define what you want your message to be and who your target audience is. IT even shows who is watching your videos on their mobile phone! Cool, eh?</span><strong><br />

<p>You may have a &#8220;good, secure job&#8221;, right? (Oxymoron, today!) Or maybe you&#8217;ve been downsized, and now you are debating &#8211; look for another job; go back to school to improve your resume; or strike out on your own and hang your shingle in your own business.</p>
<p>Do you really want another job? A new boss? Another cubicle? Another treadmill to toil away time on?</p>
<p>There is never a &#8220;perfect&#8221; or good time to start a business if you analyze it too much. Just like there is no perfect time to start a family. There will always be something that gets in the way, if you let it.</p>

Did I have overnight success? No! Did I make my first million the first year? No! (But I know others who did!) Has it been worth every second? YES!!!</p>

<p><span style="color: #800080;"><strong>ARGH!?!</strong></span> What is up with that?</p>
<p><em><strong>Please don&#8217;t tell me you do it!</strong></em> And, if you do, and you just didn&#8217;t know, take these tips to heart and you&#8217;ll quickly find that your time spent on Facebook and other Social Media sites is much more productive!</p>
<p><a href="http://www.facebook.com/streetsmartwealth" target="_blank">Facebook</a> and <a href="http://www.jackieulmer.com/sno" target="_blank">Social Media sites</a> are <strong>NOT</strong> the place for Drive By connections! If you want to use <a href="http://www.facebook.com/streetsmartwealth" target="_blank">Facebook</a> successfully for your business, here are <span style="color: #800080;"><strong>5 key tips</strong></span> for making real connections with people.</p>
<blockquote><p><span style="color: #3366ff;"><strong>1.       Send a personal message<br />
2.       Use your REAL picture<br />
3.       Invest time in making sure you are networking with people who share your values<br />
4.       Keep your wall clean<br />
5.       Engage regularly</strong></span></p></blockquote>
<p><strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">Tip #1</span></strong> – <span style="color: #800080;"><strong>Send a personal message.</strong></span> If you don&#8217;t really know someone, and you want them to accept you as a friend, take the time to make some type of connection for them. Tell them why you are requesting their friendship; <em><strong>tell them who and/or what you have in common</strong></em>; share something about them that makes you interested in not just adding them to your &#8220;posse&#8221; but connecting with and getting to know them.</p>
<p><span style="color: #3366ff;"><strong>Tip #2</strong></span> – <span style="color: #800080;"><strong>Use a real picture</strong></span>. You&#8217;ve probably heard this before, but is it called <a href="http://www.facebook.com/streetsmartwealth" target="_blank">FACEBOOK</a> for a reason. I don&#8217;t know about you, but <em><strong>I have no interest in connecting with someone&#8217;s dog or bottle of juice</strong></em> in cyberspace. That&#8217;s not a connection. You don&#8217;t have to be a supermodel; but you do want to be smiling; dressed appropriately; and preferably by yourself in the picture so we know with whom we are accepting a connection.</p>
<p><span style="color: #3366ff;"><strong>Tip #3</strong></span> – <span style="color: #800080;"><strong>Invest time in making sure you are networking with people who share your values</strong></span>. Personally, I check out the profile and wall of everyone who makes a friend request, and of those who I make friend requests of.  I&#8217;m not interested in profanity, your politics (within reason) or how wasted you got in Vegas last weekend. And, <em><strong>I am not interested in your Farmville, Mafia wars or Blingie things</strong></em> either. What things will I see immediately on your wall or profile that let me know we have things in common?</p>
<p><span style="color: #3366ff;"><strong>Tip #4</strong></span> – <strong><span style="color: #800080;">Keep your wall clean</span></strong>. People will make an immediate judgment and evaluation of you within seconds of landing on your wall. What impression do you want them to make? If it&#8217;s filled with nothing but opportunity ads and game scores, what do you suppose that perception is going to be? <em><strong>Your wall represents you</strong></em>, every bit as much if not more than your picture. Visit your wall regularly and make sure it is &#8220;representing&#8221; well for you and that others aren&#8217;t cluttering it up, either.</p>
<p><span style="color: #3366ff;"><strong>Tip #5</strong></span> – <span style="color: #800080;"><strong>Engage regularly</strong></span>. Adding a &#8220;friend&#8221; is one thing; developing a friendship is another. Make it a point to get to know people. Send a personal message; visit the profiles of friends regularly and just say hi; start a conversation; get to know them. Your goal in social media marketing is to stand out from the crowd; to be memorable; even more, to <em><strong>become unforgettable</strong></em>! This is done by having a voice and engaging it with others!</p>

<p>Do you need to spend a ton of money on &#8220;guru launch&#8221; products?</p>
<p>How much is it REALLY going to cost me?</p>
<p>These are all great questions and ones I hear all of the time. To answer these questions, I want to share my story with you and the steps that I have taken since October, 1999.</p>
<p>Here is one thing I want to strongly impress upon you &#8211; please don&#8217;t feel that there is secret to success other than taking action and staying committed. You need a few key things in place. Here are the tools I have used consistently for success:</p>
<blockquote><p>A personal website or Blog (I use both, contact me if you want to know why) that sells and BRANDS me (not a company or team replicated site)</p>
<p>A lead capture/auto-responder system</p>
<p>A knowledge of how to be effective in Social Media Marketing (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.) These are the Marketing Funnels that point traffic to your site.</p>
<p>An understanding that to be effective online, you must be willing to create content or some sort.</p>
<p>An understanding that it is at least a 2 -5 year business plan.</p></blockquote>
