Been there, done that!

I know how you feel: You’re so excited! You’ve joined a network marketing company and you are ready to skyrocket right to the top of the pay plan; ready to walk the beaches of the world with the top income earners, and win all of those exciting incentive trips.

But, something is missing. You have the company manual; you’ve been told to make your list; and you’ve been told to start calling people and sharing your business. You’re staring at the phone with something that feels like a watermelon in your stomach. You feel nervous; what if they laugh, or reject you; or worse, say no? How are you going to make this work for you?

Let’s talk about some key factors that you can get started with right away that are proven success techniques and the exact things you’ll use to duplicate with your team to build exactly what you want.

First, let’s lay the plans and develop the blueprint. You’ve probably heard it before, but it really does all start with why. Why did you start this business? When you are very clear on this, the how and the what fall right into place. Before you do anything else, get very clear and specific on your reason why, and write it down.

Before we go too far, we have to make sure we have a blueprint for success. What do you think of when you hear the words MLM or network marketing? Are these thoughts empowering or disempowering? If the words conjure up any negative emotions, you’ll want to spend some time working through these issues and reframing how you think about this new profession you have entered.

Our next steps are going to be built around creating a powerful and compelling thirty-day business launch story. As you begin speaking to others about your business, you are going to hear one specific question from time to time and that is:

“How is it going for you?” People want to know if you have had any success and did you make back the money you invested?

By creating a solid thirty-day launch story, you will easily answer this question with confidence and posture. This will make your journey much easier in network marketing.

Creating your success story really involves only a couple of things, which are the core elements to a successful, duplicating organization: use the products, share the products, and share the opportunity. People are everywhere—your warm market circle of influence, referrals, networking events, and on social media sites.

Knowing what to say and how to say it when inviting, along with how to show the business using third-party tools is a critical element to having success quickly in this business. You can go fast, or you can go slow—the steps are the same, but going fast is a lot more fun, profitable and inspiring for others!

Once you begin the process of inviting and sharing, the next step in the process is follow-up. Once you understand, master and commit to following up in a timely and consistent manner with those who you show the business to, you will see success. This will lead you to enrolling others and then duplicating the exact process you used with those on your team.

Schedule time either during the sponsoring process with a new team member, or shortly after it to cover some basic training and get your new team partner launched with the system you use to do exactly what you did. Do a challenge called “Beat the Box” where you work to have your new team partners investment back before the kit arrives in the mail.

As you work with those on your team, leaders will begin to show up and you will recognize them by how quickly they get into action, and stay in action. Are they duplicating the proven methods? Are they committed to moving forward? Do they plug into company events and get involved with the team? Find these people and have a conversation with them about leadership within the company, and how that will grow their paycheck.

Success is simple. It involves some initial planning, and then a consistent action plan each day and each week. Create your own successful business launch using the steps outlined above and then duplicate that throughout your organization.

There are so many myths out there about Network Marketing and a lot of mis-education and opinions. I know, I was one of those outrageous skeptics who thought it was something for people who couldn’t DO anything else.

Thankfully, I was willing to educate myself before I slammed the door on the option of Network Marketing for me as a way to leave corporate America and be home to raise my children, and truly – Have It All!

So, let’s look beyond the hype of huge mansions, flashy sports cars, exotic trips and money flowing out your ears and see some realities of Network Marketing. Now, make no mistake, all of those things are possible with network marketing, just like they are with Real Estate, Insurance Sales, and many other careers.  And, the reality is, only those who are seriously committed to success will reach those levels in ANY profession.

Network Marketing can and does provide:

The ability for  moms to leave corporate America, replace and income and be home. Does it happen overnight? NO, not for most. But if one is willing to be consistent, stop making excuses and step outside of the comfort zone, it WILL happen.

Retirement income – not everyone who gets into Network Marketing does so to make a bazillion dollars. Some are looking to make steady income to fund a retirement program, without getting a second job.

Residual Income – what else can an average person do, that with time and consistency, will create an ongoing passive income that comes in month after month, in most cases, going up steadily?

I was chatting with a downline team member today who was procrastinating everything in her business and feeling quite down about it.

She expressed an interest in moving forward but was taking no steps to do so, and was instead, paralyzed by in-action.

So, I asked her – “How do you FEEL when you are wanting to succeed and yet not taking steps to make it happen?”

Of course, she answered that it made her feel terrible, guilty, like a loser, and so on.

“Well, do you LIKE feeling that way and do you want to continue to feel that way?”

Recognition and acknowledgment of a weakness is the first and GREATEST step toward resolving it.

We laid out some simple steps she could take that say to move forward in some small way in this business and feel successful! And, in doing this, I gave her some tools for coaching herself through procrastination.

Are you having any of these same thoughts in your business? Are you FEELING this same way?

I have learned to gauge my success based around the way I feel and the thoughts I am CHOOSING to run through my head.

Here is something for you to try – pay attention to your – Feel-O-Meter. That is, pay attention to how you are feeling each hour of the day. If you sit down to make calls to prospects, check your Feel-O-Meter. Make sure you are on the high side of the chart or DO NOT MAKE THE CALLS.

And, if you find that you are on the low side, make a conscious decision to change the way you feel. You CAN change the way you feel. One fast way to do this is to think of the happiest day of your life and let that feeling overtake you.

Then, when are feeling exhilarated and in control, then begin to make those calls.

This is one small method you can use to coach yourself to success.

Another is to ask yourself for guidance.

If you are sitting down to write out that “perfect script” to say to prospects, think about how YOU would like to be introduced to your business. Think about word choices and ways of saying things that might be a turn off to you.

Personally, I am turned off by any hypey language or claims of having the BEST of anything. So, when someone begins to talk to me in this way, I immediately begin to shut down.

What turns you off in the prospecting process? Whatever it is, do not include it in what you say, even if your sponsor swears by it.

Coach yourself to success just by being WHO and WHAT you are. You have the answers inside. Just ask your “master counsel” and then LISTEN!

One of the most important factors in determining your success in your Network Marketing and Direct Sales business is getting off to a solid start. You MUST launch you business right in order to see success, grow and duplicate.

And, duplication IS the name of the game. It’s what we must have to be successful!

Here are some simple steps to take and teach others. Remember, these are simple TO DO, and simple NOT TO DO! Have a “Slight Edge” mentality and Just Do It! These are your business launch steps and have consistently over time been PROVEN to create the most successful business model.

1. Determine and write down your WHY. Get out of your head and into your heart and create a burning desire that will propel you forward. Write down some goals that you really want to achieve and pick your top 5 to focus on first. Make a copy of your written WHY and put it near your phone, computer, on your sun visor in your car, in your daytimer, on your bathroom mirror, etc.

2. Get committed – sounds simple, and the words are easy to say – but are you TRULY committed. Write down your action steps for the previous month and you’ll see just how committed you are. I can look at a person’s tracking sheet and daytimer and see how committed they are. Don’t say WHAT you will do. Go DO IT first and then let others know!

3. Schedule your business time. That’s right – GET IT IN THE CALENDAR! My mantra is – if it’s not on the calendar, it won’t get done! Make a COMMITMENT to do something every day that is an income producing activity.

4. Make Your List – if you’ve already started, great, be adding names to that list. Spend some serious time on this and write down the names of the top influencers and people who get things done. Who would be your A-Team?

5. Develop Your Plan – Yep, you have to know what you are going to do every step of the way. You’ve started your plan with the first 4 steps and now you need to know how you are actually going to execute “getting things done.” So, part of this is knowing what you are going to say when you contact those on your list; how you are going to show your business (third party tools and the SYSTEM your company uses) and then your plan for number of contacts each day. That’s REALLY it – what will you say; how will you show the business; how many contacts a day.

6. Determine what tools you need to execute your plan and get them ordered. Check with your sponsor/upline to determine exactly what this will be. Business cards, brochures, CDs to hand out, DVDs, etc. These are the tools you’ll need, and it will vary depending on what your company uses.

7. Place your first order and GET ON YOUR COMPANY’S AUTO-SHIP OR MONTHLY RECURRING ORDER PROGRAM. You must be a “product of the product” and have product to show those who you contact. Be SERIOUS in your business an replace everything in your home that competes with your products. This helps you develop product knowledge, which is so important. Just reading about something is not enough. You need to have first hand knowledge! This is critical. Your prospect will know what you know on this topic. You really can’t “fake it til you make it” here!

8. Get Plugged In – get on all available company and team conference calls, webinars and attend local events. Schedule regional events and your company convention in your daytimer RIGHT NOW and get registered for convention. Make the commitment now. Check with your sponsor/upline for all events, calls and newsletters you should be plugged into!

Well, that’s it. Pretty simple, isn’t it? And, as I said – simple to DO, and simple NOT TO DO! One last thought, anything you alter or take out of the equation dilutes your duplication process. This is a proven system that works, and will work for you, too!

Some of you may be saying – wait; where does my blog, facebook, twitter and other online tools fit into this? Those are future steps, to be sure. But don’t delay the start and initial success in your business by missing the launch plan!

Well, did you toss out the old and ring in the new Saturday night? I sure did and WOW – did I have a complete perspective shift on Saturday.

I like to take time in the morning on each New Year’s Eve and do my “close out” of the year that is ending. And, this year was no exception. And, it was REALLY revealing both with what my focus was, and wasn’t and I know now where to keep my energy for 2012.

Are you struggling in your business and feeling like it’s working for everyone else, but not you?

Relax, you are not alone and most successful home business owners and Network Marketers feel this same way at some point in their business. The key to success is to re-frame the thoughts that you think and train your brain to move out of its old conditioning.

Remember . . . thoughts are your most valuable asset! Your thoughts will determine whether you make it or not. Through your thoughts, you condition yourself to take inspired action or not. Consider this – when one is thinking – this will never work for me – what do you suppose the odds are that he/she is going to do something action oriented in the business? Slim to none!

Here are some thoughts the unsuccessful person often things about:

“This is never going to work.”

“I’m no good at this.”

“It’s easier for “Insert Name” because “Insert Reason.”

“Nobody is interested in this product.”

“People in my town are different.”

“The economy is bad.”

“This is too much work.”

Now, feel the difference in just reading a different way of thinking things through:

“What could I do differently for a different outcome?”

“How can I improve this part of my business so this doesn’t happen again?”

“What have I learned from this?”

“That was just an odd thing that happened and not indicative of the future.”

“I refuse to let one little bump in the road stop me!”

“How can I turn this into a learning experience for my team?”

Obstacles are a part of life, and these same challenges are also a part of business. Everyone experiences setbacks or situations that don’t go like we think they should have or we want them to. The key is not to focus on the challenges, but instead on the learning lessons! Focusing on setbacks is just a way to justify quitting or procrastinating.

Seize each opportunity as the next step on your way up the ladder of success!

I know, the holidays are challenging enough and then add in a business. If you are in Party Plan, this is probably your busiest season and so your business is full speed ahead.
